A Song Sparrow defends his Territory!

For the past week I have seen our resident Song sparrow hopping around on the passenger side mirror of my car, which is perhaps thirty five feet away from his yearly home in a rhododendron on the hillside. He is too fast for me to photograph, but I did find evidence of his visit. Thinking there was an interloper on his undisputed territory, he marked his ground with his droppings all over the mirror. The interloper has not been deterred, since the sparrow is fighting with his mirror image-

I might be upset too, if a someone pitched a tent in my front yard so they could raise their family there. How much we have in common with our non human neighbors.
